TET Eligibility Criteria and Minimum Education Qualification

TET has two papers. Paper 1 & Paper 2

  • Paper I is for teachers for classes I to V.
  • Paper II is for classes VI to VIII.

A person who intends to be a teacher either for classes I to V or for classes VI to VIII will have to appear in both papers (Paper I and Paper II).

Eligibility for Paper 1 (Class 1 to V)

Academic Qualification: Minimum Senior Secondary (Class XII) with 50% marks

AND

Has passed or appearing in final year of a teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) such as DEE (two years course only) or B.El.Ed (4 years)

Eligibility for Paper II (Class VI to VII)

Academic Qualification: Minimum Graduation

AND

Passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (OR) 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) (50% marks in graduation if one year B.Ed)

Minimum Qualifications to appear in TET Exam

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with min 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education

OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with min 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education of NCTE Regulated norms

OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

(OR) Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (OR) Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education

Paper-II (Class VI to Class VIII)

Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (OR) Graduation with minimum 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
